tools we use
Below, you will find the breakdown of tools we use on a regular basis to complete the projects we undertake.
We’ve separated them into a few different categories:
If you’re just starting out with projects or at the beginning stages of building out your tools, we’d recommend starting with THE BASICS and then moving on to THE NEXT STEPS.
Now, obviously, the types of projects you’re planning on doing could change the order you would need to buy, but we’re hopeful this will be a useful roadmap for folks needing a place to start.
PS - All of the links below are “affiliate” links, which means that when you use them to make additions/purchases to your DIY toolkit, a small percentage of your purchase will go to directly supporting us (at no extra cost to you)! This is an awesome way to partner with us and help us both grow! Thanks for looking. :-)
THE BASICS
power tools.
saws
nailers
drills/drivers
sanders
misc.
accessories.
clamps
safety.
NEXT STEPS
power tools.
saws
*Note - We use a Ryobi Miter Saw, but we would just as readily recommend this one.
*Note - We also use an “old” Craftsman Table Saw
*Note - We also have the DeWalt we recommend here and have had great success with it.
*Note - We recommend this in addition to the Ryobi found in THE BASICS because it has more power for tougher, more involved jobs.
nailers
drills/drivers:
*Note - We use an “old” Craftsman Table Top Drill Press
sanders
router
misc.
*Note - We use an “old” Ryobi Planer
*Note - We use an “old” Craftsman Jointer
*Note - We don’t have any experience with any other jointers other than the one we have, which is no longer sold. So, we don’t recommend one, per se… though, there are many good brands out there ranging from lower-end all the way up to fully professional for you to consider. This Wen is just one option.
accessories.
Pliers
safety.
Dust Collection
MISCELLANEOUS
care/computer/editing gear.
